The Two big Comics of AC

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 8:58 PM
The only items i was really dead set on buying at AC this year were the two highly anticipated comics "Dog Days of Summer" by Blotch and "Heathen City" by Bad Dog Productions. I mainly got Heathen City to support Ayato, Fel and a ton of other artists who all contributed to it. And i was gonna get two copies of Dog Days, one for me and one for [info]irc_goliath But once i saw the $25 price tag i was like "ill just read goliaths copy >_> ". I think i made the better choice with Heathen City, which also costed fuggin $20

I own hard bound novels that dont cost that much. And yeah i figure its to cover the expenses of printing and the various artists and so on but GADAMN :b

Dog Days was loaded with gorgeous art of course but its the same ol gay drama story that gets churned out in the majority of these big time furry comics, with very little pay off in the sex dept.

I was totally surprised at how rockin Heathen City is though! It reads like GTA with furries, and casual sex thrown in there occasionally. Sex Drugs and Violence is pretty rare in the realm of furry comics and i like where this one is going :3

Invite Returned!

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 9:36 PM
(Thanks to the mods for sorting out a strange blip! The original post went missing, and they've graciously allowed me to repost :) )

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Everything In Between in the General Area of the City of New York:

You are hereby invited to an afternoon of tea and snacks on the Great Lawn of Central Park on August the Second. While somewhat in honor of my birthday, the invite is open to all and nothing in the way of presents is required (or even requested!) as the picnic is in no way a party simply for that reason.

Your hosts, [info]liu_xing and I, simply want the enjoyment of your company. We understand that [info]jaborwhalky is holding a wondrous event on the same day, and in no way want to take away from that! Think of us more as there for those of you who can't make the commute. We'd hate to think we're making anybody reconsider or change their plans. :)

Following are the details of the day:

Date: August 2nd
Time: 2 PM - ?
Location: We shall meet up on the steps of the Natural History Museum (Central Park West between 81st and 79th street) before walking to Central Park itself.

We would very much appreciate an RSVP, though if you decide the day of that yes, you can make it, we will quite gladly still accept you!

All we ask is that you make your best attempt to bring something, even if just some cookies or cheese and crackers. It will be a picnic tea to remember, if all goes well.

If you plan on attending, please respond to this post so we can have a good idea of the number of people attending. Closer to the date we will post the details of the day again, as well as a list of those hopefully in attendance.

In case of rain, we will still hold the meet up on the same day, but will instead rendezvous and dine at Alice's Teacup. Closer to the date, if rain is forecasted, we will make sure everybody involved knows exactly where to meet and how much tea will cost, at a rough estimate. So as not to confuse anybody, however, we'll leave that information out for now.

Adam and Chorca have been working on the CNC machine non stop since yesterday. Chorca runs in to grab my camera for photos. I really liked these 3 he took. Much craziness is going on in the garage right now while I stay inside sewing :P.

Suit on Hold

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 5:55 PM
I am stopping work on my suit at this time due to injury.

I burned myself nastily with my hot glue gun *sigh*

I blame it on being really tired. Last night (at like 5am) I burned my fingers a little, but it went away quickly. Today, I stupidly mashed together the foam and the mesh allowing the glue to seal itself to my finger through the mesh.

I shouldn't be surprised since earlier this morning, I made myself a glass of chocolate milk and put the milk away in the pantry, where the chocolate powder goes. Luckily I had not put the powder away yet so I corrected the mistake before I had a mess.

Time for a nap! lol

Phyrra Tiger

Go see rest the adorable pictures of this very photogenic feline!

The stripes on this white tiger's body were sewn in took a great deal of patience. The tail itself was 32 pieces! He's a very handsome kitty with his abs, and will be showing them off no doubt about that.

You can see this guy running around Feral and MFF this year!

Enjoy!

Not much advance notice, but I only just decided to post this here as I don't think it's getting much attention on NYSteam. I'm hosting a photo shoot this Saturday, July 12. Our settings will be West Village apartment buildings, courtyards, facades, and lamp-posts, park fountains and gates, the Jefferson Market Library, City Hall Park, Battery Park, the South Street Seaport, and Lower Manhattan.

You can bring or wear your costumes and we'll find the best location for your style. Afterwards, we'll all have some great photos to share. I guarantee these will turn out better than those blurry mirror shots in which the camera blocks your face!

RSVP is requested. Visit the NYSteam Community for the invitation and details

Silky Furry Fleece in Orange or Yellow

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I'm hoping!

I'm working on a costume for Halloween, I thought it would amuse myself and my fellow geeky friends to make a Mozilla Firefox fursuit.

I've done it before for suits and costumes, and I'm doing it again: Using JoAnn's Silky Furry Fleece for this costume. Not accurate fox fur by ANY means, but I'm simply in love with the comfort of its silky backing, and the "OMG SOFT" factor of the fur is great.

However, I can't find it in yellow or orange right now!

Does anybody have 1/2 to a full yard of yellow, orange, or somewhere in between? I'm looking specifically for silky furry fleece - not poodle furry fleece (the kind with the extreme curl to it. Silky furry fleece is slightly curly but not tight little ringlets)

I'd be delighted to buy it from you for a fair price. :)

Thanks!

So yesterday was wonderful :)

Wayne came over for the night on Thursday so I made him some dinner. Yesterday morning, I attempted to make a "Cheese and Vegetable Omelette", although it was more like a casserole/quiche thing, for breakfast. For lunch we had yummy pancakes at IHOP and then we drove over to Santa Barbara. Wayne and I drove separately so the drive there was pretty entertaining lol.

First, we walked around aimlessly until we met up with PJ and Lyndsie to watch The Love Guru (which was kinda weird, but I liked it lol). Then we headed over to the beach to watch the fireworks show. It was very romantic to be held in Waynes arms as we watched the sky light up and his jacket and arms did a great job keeping me pretty warm :)

Afterwards, we had dinner at a place that had really good bread and butter ^_^ Then we all parted ways as PJ and Lyndsie went back the PJ's, Wayne went back to Sun Valley, and I came back to Santa Maria. The drive back was the worst >_<

Not to mention I had found out that my baby, Max, had suddenly disappeared out of out backyard... He had just been sleeping by the door and then he was gone. No open gates, gates waaay too tall for him to jump, nothing for him to jump on so he *could* jump over the fence, no holes that he couldve fit through...It was confusing and it was pretty damn heartbreaking...so I called up my mom on the way home and used speakerphone so she could keep me company and keep me from crying while driving (which didnt work too well :P). But its okay now!! I couldnt go to sleep when I got here until around 4 when my mom heard her fiances dog, Rudy, barking like crazy. She went outside to see what was up and it was little Maxey-poo!!

But yea, yesterday was a great day...and very deserved I think as well. Im so glad I got to spend that time with Wayne and I hope he understands that my heart is all his, it was always meant to be his and it has been for over a year now :)

Goggley Goodness...

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Crossposted from my personal LJ. Sorry for the extra times that the community will see this...

A nice, dramatic image to start off the post, is it not?

I put the final touches on three pairs of goggles yesterday. Two are totally finished, but the pair with the light & jeweler's loup might get one final rework if I find just the right bits of junk out in my storage shed. If not, there's no time to go out to the hardware shops on a search. LibertyCon is next weekend, and I'll need to finish the outfits that I am going to take.

Outfit One: Jungle Explorer, which basically means Khaki everything! Which will at least have the benefit of being suitable for the tropical climate of Chatanooga, TN in the Summertime. From pith helmet to shoes, I'll be a vision of tan-colored eccentricity.

Outfit Two: Airship Captain, which will be too bloody hot to wear outside the hotel's blessed AC. But at least it is a good-looking outfit. I shall swelter with style!

Outfit for the rest of the time: Jeans (or shorts) & T-shirts.

Still to do: One trip to WalMart should score me everything I've forgotten to buy before now. A bit of sewing and attaching fobs to my watch chain will complete both outfits. I'd also like to finish at least one raygun & holster, but I'll forgo the weaponry if time runs short.

All right, cut tag to the larger (800x600) photos: )

For now, I have writing to do and deadlines to meet. Once that is finished, I might start working on the rayguns again. I should be able to stand the heat and humidity outdoors for long enough to put a few coats of paint on the metal parts and saw & sand the handgrips. I've yet to come up with a sastisfactory trigger assembly, however.
